DEVELOPER Redrow has now acquired 17 acres of land in Winchcombe with outline planning permission for up to 120 houses.

Planning permission was granted last May by an inspector to developer Redrow Homes to build the houses on land adjacent to Gretton Road in the town.

Their application had been previously thrown out by Tewkesbury Borough Council.

The developer plans to build 109 new homes, including 71 two, three and four-bedroom family homes and 38 affordable properties with over half of the site becoming a wildflower meadow.

And more than seven acres of adjacent land will be presented to Winchcombe School for the provision of improved sports facilities.

Lee Hawker, land director for Redrow (South West), said: “We are extremely proud to acquire this fantastic development site in charming Winchcombe."

A spokesman for Redrow added that archaeological works have commenced at the site and brick works will commence in early Summer.
