AN award winning children's author is giving story telling sessions at a book shop in Moreton as part of national World Book Day Fest.

Tracey Corderoy , who has published more than 35 books since 2010, will be at Christmas Birds and Books on Saturday, March 8.

The popular writer will be leading story telling sessions and craft activities with children from 11am to 3pm.

Richard Kemp, who opened the bookshop last October in the former pop-up shop in Old Market Way, said it was a real coup to secure her as he had to compete with all the other independent bookshops.

"She's a really wonderful storyteller and great children's author," he said. "Because we're new there's a lot of demand for these authors. In the past the bookshop in Moreton has run really successful events."

The day will be the first in what the shop hopes to be regular monthly author events which will be run in conjunction with the Courtyard Cafe.
