FOLK art created by a Broadway receptionist has been chosen for a new exhibition in Chichester.

Jason Pape, who works at the Bupa Brompton House care home, in Station Road, is one of two British artists to showcase their work in the Intuitive Folk exhibition in the Print Room, Pallant House Gallery.

The 27-year-old's playful ceramic animals were a hit with charity Outside In, which provides a platform for artists who find it difficult to access the art world.

Mr Pape's mum Sally, the activities co-ordinator at Brompton House, said five of his pieces had been chosen for the exhibition.

"He's absolutely delighted," she said. "For any artist, that's your dream to be recognised as creating something worth looking at. It's great."

Mr Pape, who suffers with Asperger Syndrome, got into art when he was 17 and is now doing commissions for people locally.

He exhibited his work for the first time last year with the charity and also paints and makes cards.

"I love Jason's work," added Mrs Pape. "It's so original. Every piece is made with such a great deal of detail and care. He puts a lot of love into his work. My house is full of it."

Mr Pape's work will be on display alongside British artist Chaz Waldren and two Japanese artists, Masao Obata and Shinichi Sawada from Wednesday, February 26 to Sunday, April 27.
