PEOPLE in Stow have proved they are a brainy bunch after raising nearly £1,500 at a charity quiz night.

The event was held in St Edward's Hall on Saturday (18) to raise funds for Stow-based Kate's Home Nursing.

About 100 people enjoyed an evening of fiendish questions and a fish and chip supper and after a tough struggle, team 'the Weird Sisters' led by Simon Clarke, won the coveted trophies.

The event was supported by a number of local businesses including The Bell at Stow, The Crock Shop, the Cotswold Brewing Company, Tabitha James Kraan, Cheltenham Racecourse and Tesco.

Co-organiser Anna Wheeler, of Broadwell, said: "The event proved so popular that we were sold out and the depth of knowledge shown by all the teams was very impressive.

"It was great to see so much support for such a worthwhile charity and we hope to make it an annual event."
