PLANS for a new discount supermarket in Chipping Norton are still up in the air after planners delayed making a decision on the application.
The Uplands Planning Committee agreed to defer the planning application for an Aldi Supermarket, and change of use of the former Highways Depot site at Cromwell Business Park, off Banbury Road, at its meeting on January 6.
Members felt that various issues needed to be addressed before a decision could be made.
These include fears over the store’s potential impact on the town centre, as well as concerns regarding its design and landscaping and plans for parking and deliveries.
Officers were asked to carry out further negotiations with the developer before a decision is made.
If approved, the new 1,000 sq ft store would create 30 jobs and have 76 car parking spaces.
