Stow Rugby Club grow impressive moustaches
Club sported some impressive facial hair to show their support for the Movember campaign.
Twenty-one coaches and parents raised £1,673 for research into testicular and prostate cancer by growing moustaches throughout November.
They were organised and captained by Dave Laughlin, the Under-6s head coach.
To encourage the ‘Mo Bros’ to raise as much money as possible, there was also an inter-team competition. The team enjoyed a lunch before the 1st XV’s home match on December 7.
After the match, Shaun Wilmer, the Cotswold Barber in Sheep Street, Stow, judged the best moustache with the aid of the traditional audience clapometer.
Pup King, Under-12s coach, beat off stiff competition from fellow finalist Dave Laughlin and was declared the winner after receiving the loudest cheer. They both won a free haircut at the Cotswold Barber.
Gareth Adams, Under-7s coach, won the prize for raising the most individual money after raising £292.
Meanwhile, there was not a clean-shaven face in sight at Blockley Primary School as two ‘Mo Bros’ teamed up to raise awareness for prostate and testicular cancer.
Through November, Class 3 teaching assistant Graham Jones and Class 4 teacher Lee Staley have been supporting Movember. Class 4 pupils have also helped with raising awareness by designing collection tins and making their own moustaches.
