THE 1st Moreton Scout group has teamed up with Budgens supermarket to create some appealing sprout recipes for the Christmas dinner table.

Budgen’s owner Guy Warner donated fresh sprouts to the troop who were tasked with coming up with a range of delicious dishes in a cooking competition.

Store manager, Jerry Tweney, tasted each dish at the judging at the Scout hut in Station Road, Blockley, before choosing the winners.

The two winning sprouts dishes – Megan Gibson’s Sweet and Sour Sprouts with Pork, which was chosen for best presentation, and Thomas Cawley’s Sprouts in a Creamy Pancetta and Mustard Sauce, was chosen for best taste.

Their dishes will now be shared with everyone that visits the store for their Christmas dinner ingredients.

Mr Warner said: “The 1st Moreton-in-Marsh Scouts have created some very inventive recipes and we think that the winning recipe will be a favourite for many people.

“Hopefully the Scouts’ recipes will go down in history, and their grandchildren will be making Sweet and Sour Sprouts with Pork and Creamy Pancetta Sprouts with Mustard Sauce for the Christmas dinner table in years to come.”
