JUST a year after moving into its new home, a Cotswold playgroup has secured a ‘good’ inspection from Ofsted.

Last month, the education watchdog carried out an inspection of Guiting Power Pre-school and Playgroup, in Guiting Power, and found it to be ‘good’ in all categories.

The group moved from its former home in the village hall in September last year, into the building of the former Guiting Manor Nursery School which is owned by the Guiting Manor Amenity Trust. In her report, inspector Sue Bennett, said: “Children are happy and enjoy their experiences within the caring environment.”

She also said staff have a “good knowledge of how to support young children's learning and development needs” and praised the range of activities on offer.

However, she said in order to become ‘outstanding’ the range of opportunities for children needed to be extended in the outside area.

Playleader Becky Roseblade said: “I’m very happy, really pleased. I just want to thank all the staff and the committee and all the parents for their support.

“It’s been quite hard for the children as well with the move but they’ve all coped really well. At the moment we are doing a lot of fundraising to build some equipment for outside.”

Since the move to the new premises, the pre-school and playgroup is now open longer hours, five days a week.
