A WOMAN begged a court to lift a restraining order on her partner – just hours before he was sent to prison for breaching it.

Christine Lowe appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court to appeal for a restraining order imposed on her partner David Bailey on Thursday, September 5, to be lifted.

Miss Lowe told the bench the couple’s seven-year relationship had been rocky but they had reconciled since his release from a 16-week prison sentence he received for assaulting her.

“I used to have a drug problem and I am to blame for a lot of the things that happened,”

she said. “I have been assaulted but also I have assaulted him in the past. He really has changed a hell of a lot since he’s been in prison. He’s so loyal and so nice and I want him back with me and my family.”

She said she was struggling to care for her two sons, who suffer from mental health issues, “I cannot do it on my own,” she said.

Magistrates agreed to lift the restraining order, but later in the day Bailey, aged 57, appeared before them charged with breaching it on Wednesday, November 6, and they were less leniant.

Bailey admitted he had approached Miss Lowe in a bar in Evesham and was later at the couple’s home in Fairfield Road, Evesham, breaking the terms of the order.

Magistrates sentenced Bailey to concurrent prison sentences of 18 weeks and 10 weeks, prompting Miss Lowe to run out of the courtroom in tears
