Now you can pay to park by phone

SAVING loose change for parking will be a thing of the past in the Cotswolds, with the introduction of a new cashless system.
From Friday, November 15, drivers will be able to pay for parking by phone using their debit and credit cards at car parks owned by Cotswold District Council.
Motorists can now opt for cashless payments using phones – which will have a 10p surcharge – as an alternative to using the coinoperated machines which will remain at each location.
With the new system, people will be able to pay for an extension to their stay in the car park via their mobile phones without having to return to their vehicle.
Season ticket holders will also be requested to renew using a cashless payment method.
Councillor Barry Gibbs, cabinet member for parking at the district council, said: “Residents have been requesting cashless parking for some time and we are always keen to make parking as flexible as possible.
“As a result, we are delighted to offer this alternative method of paying for the service.”
Car parks included in the scheme are Rissington Road, Bourton, Old Market Way, Moreton, Market Square, Chipping Campden, Maugersbury Road and Fosseway, Stow.
