ONE of Britain’s most successful fashion designers was amazed by the talent at the Cotswold School’s annual fashion show.

The pupils’ creations were judged by ‘King of the High Street’ George Davies along with his head designer and buyer Charlotte Edgworth and teachers Helen Kempson and Ami Minchin.

The show, which also raised more than £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, was organised by a team of enthusiastic sixth formers led by Sophie Martin.

Textiles teacher Julie Franklin said students had been working since July on their collections.

“They have been supported by Year 13 mentors but mostly worked independently,”

she said. “I am extremely proud of all their efforts and everyone who made the event so spectacular.”

Students Sophie Taylor, Emily-Jane Bayliss and Sophie Collett received the ultimate accolade of the evening. They were awarded the George Davies Prize – sewing machines and work experience with his clothing company – for their jointly designed Mexican inspired ‘Day of the Dead’ collection.

Mr Davies said: “Seeing this level of talent in these young people makes me think I’m paying my designers too much.”
