Anyone for a bit of pumpkin pie?

IT has been a bumper crop of pumpkins for youngsters at Winchcombe Farm Day Nursery.
Tots at the nursery in Upper Tysoe, near Shipston, planted the seeds months ago in their organic vegetable patch at their weekly gardening club sessions run by the resident gardener.
They will now be harvesting their crop of giant pumpkins and then carving them up to make scary lanterns to decorate the nursery for Halloween.
Rachel Giorgio, nursery manager, said: “Each week during the spring and summer months our pre-school class attends gardening club, which not only helps them develop a love of gardening but also gives them great delight in taking home something they have sown, planted or made.
“They learn so much through this activity and recent research has shown that as well as helping children lead happier, healthier lives, gardening helps them acquire the essential skills they need to fulfil their potential.”
