NEW starters at a Chipping Campden school are enjoying some new outdoor space thanks to the fund-raising efforts of the Parent Action Group (PAG).

Over the summer holidays, a new outside all-weather shelter, a ‘diggery’ and improved sand and water play opportunities have been installed at St Catharine’s Primary School.

Funds for the £10,000 project were raised by the PAG, which continually raises money to pay for things that enhances the children’s education.

Jane Cannon, deputy head and reception class teacher, said the children were enjoying their new surroundings.

“It’s been a great start to the school year,” she said. “The new class has fully embraced it. They’ve really enjoyed it.

“It’s been an improvement to the outdoor space for the early years children which means there’s a covered area so they can they can access it even when the weather is wet and miserable.”

The school is holding an open evening next Wednesday from 5pm to 7pm and will include musical performances by pupils and the school choir.
