What an amazing year for apples!
6:00pm Friday 18th October 2013 in News
THERE will be a bumper crop of fruit at this year’s Apple Weekend at Snowshill Manor.
The venue near Broadway has two orchards which produce more than 50 varieties of apples in a range of colours, sizes and flavours which will be on display on Saturday and Sunday.
Visitors can taste pressed, cooked, fermented and freshly picked fruits and see hundreds of varieties on display. There will also be a local producers’ market selling beers, ciders, jams and cheeses.
Gardener Linda Roberts, who has been at Snowshill for more than 20 years, said: “This has been an amazing year for apples.
“The wet spring and the lovely long summer have meant ideal conditions for apples so the crop has been particularly fruitful.”
The Snowshill garden team will be on hand to answer question and there will be a variety of craft activities, games and even a demonstration bee hive for younger visitors.
Gosia Rumsey, marketing officer, said: “The team have worked really hard to put together an event that appeals to all, with a real local and seasonal feel.
“I am looking forward to an old-fashioned celebration of the humble apple.”
