Renowned professor inspires Cotswold School students
STUDENTS at the Cotswold School were inspired by a renowned English philosopher at their annual school prize giving.
Professor Anthony C. Grayling, author of more than 30 books on philosophy and Master of the New College of the Humanities, gave a speech about the philosophy of learning at the recent awards ceremony.
His message hit home with the students at the Prize Giving ceremony.
Head Boy, Charlie Meyrick, said: “Professor Grayling was incredibly impressive but also incredibly down to earth and easy to talk to. It was a privilege to meet him as well as to hear him speak.”
Headteacher Will Morgan said: “Professor Grayling’s words on the value of learning and the opportunities, enjoyment and life enhancement that it gives are ones that we hope will resonate across our school community.
“So many of our students and their parents have been in touch since the prize giving to pass on how inspiring they found his speech.
“The Cotswold School is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year and Professor Grayling’s presence brought enormous gravitas to the occasion.”
Professor Grayling has organised the 'Grayling Prize' for the students in the lower Sixth Form which will be awarded for an extended project in the Humanities.
A small group will also get the opportunity to visit London later this month, to spend ‘an evening with Anthony’ in his drawing room.’
