THE Japanese love affair with the Cotswolds is showing no signs of slowing down after a Bourton B&B was found in an international brochure.

Helen Macklin, who owns Lansdowne Villa, said she could not believe it when a Japanese tourist booked a room with her after seeing her “smiling face” on the tourist guide.

Mika Asahara travelled from Takatsuki, in Osaka, to stay with Mrs Macklin last month after finding her details on the international Five Star Club’s holiday brochure.

The brochure is found all over the world including France, Spain, Italy and Switzerland.

In a letter to Mrs Macklin sent after her stay she said: “I read about your B&B on the brochure and saw your smile.

Your town is very beautiful. I had good memories in your country.”

Mrs Macklin said: “I had no idea I was in it. She’s invited me over to Japan to go and stay with her.”
