Road closed for resurfacing work
4:10pm Thursday 12th September 2013 in News
ESSENTIAL work to repair the A44 between Moreton and Bourton- on-the-Hill has started.
The resurfacing work, which started on Monday, is expected to be completed on Monday, September 23.
A diversion via the A429 Fosseway and the A424 Evesham Road is now in place but access will be maintained for emergency vehicles, residents and businesses including the caravan park and Wellington Aviation Museum, Moreton.
County councillor Vernon Smith said: “I appreciate that works like this do inconvenience people. However, should residents require any assistance with access to their property please speak to the contractors on site who will assist.”
Stuart Priest, director of operations at Batsford Arboretum, said that they were open as usual.
“The arboretum and falconry centre will be open but will only be accessed from the Evesham and Bourton-on-the-Hill direction.
“It’s not going to be good for us, but if it’s going to happen probably now is the best time. If it was in October it would cause chaos.”
Due to the closure, the village fete due to held at Bourton House, Bourton-on-the-Hill, on Saturday has been cancelled.
However, the grand draw will still take place at 3pm at the Old School, with teas from 2pm.
