A GROUP of Vale teenagers have spent their summer holiday preparing for a summer family festival in Evesham that will raise money for two charities.
Seventeen youngsters aged 15-17 are taking part in Yes Fest at Sankey Marine in Worcester Road, Evesham, on Sunday, from 11.30am-6pm.
The teenagers have been involved in the Engage4Life project which is backed by the National Citizens Service (NCS) and is a Big Society youth development initiative.
Team leader Jade Mannion said: “Our group is called Team Inspire. Our project is to create a family music event/festival for the community. It will consist of local bands, stalls, children’s entertainment and a raffle full of prizes kindly donated by local businesses.
“We will be selling the raffle tickets to help raise money. As well as this there will be canoes for hire, face painters, a bouncy castle and a barbecue.
“The participants are local to the Evesham area and are planning this event for the local community as a part of a social action plan for the Engage4Life programme.
“Engage4Life encourages teenagers to participate in constructive activities during the summer holidays.”
“Yes Fest is aimed to be a social gathering hoping to bring everyone together, but also a fund-raiser for Macmillan Cancer Support and Help for Heroes. Both are charities close to their hearts.
“The group have dedicated their summer holidays to planning and implementing their ideas. It will be a fantastic day.”
