Cotswold befriending charity hosts summer party
MORE than 60 befriending clients and their volunteers turned out for a summer party at Bourton House Garden.
Hosted by the Moreton-based Cotwold Volunteers North, the event last Wednesday was one of three held for its volunteers every year as a thank you for their hardwork.
Despite the bad weather, guests enjoyed a garden tour and afternoon tea at the popular Cotswold attraction near Moreton.
Befriending Services Manager Kirsty Holder said: “It is so vital for our clients that they have regular outings and social events, people who are isolated at home can suffer from anxiety, depression and ill-health.
“These vibrant social occasions, generously donated on this occasion by Bourton House, and staffed by our wonderful volunteers, provide a lively fun environment for our clients.
“Bourton House Gardens are so beautiful and uplifting, even in this horrible rain, that the benefit they provide to our clients is tangible – the delicious homemade cake and hot tea is also very cheering.
"Thank you to everyone for joining in and taking part.”
The charity was recently awarded £225,000 from a Big Lottery grant which it will share with two other brefriending charities in the south of the district.
