Fierce opposition to 380-home plan
8:00am Saturday 17th August 2013 in News
OBJECTIONS have flooded in against a huge development due to be considered by planners at Wychavon District Council this afternoon.
Proposals in the parish of Pebworth, near Long Marston, would see 380 homes, 5,000 square metres of employment space, a minimum of 400 square metres of community space and public open space created.
It would also mean a new roundabout would be built on the Campden Road.
The plans by Codex Land Promotions Ltd on the land next to Sims Metals UK have been met with fierce opposition.
Six parish councils have objected to the plans, as have neighbouring Chipping Campden Town Council.
Mickleton, Welford-on- Avon, Quinton, Marston Sicca and Weston-Sub-Edge parish councils all raised objections, as did Pebworth Parish Council, which said the proposals would divide the parish, cause flooding issues and create an unacceptable burden on infrastructure including schools and healthcare.
Meanwhile, an application for 19 homes in Bishampton will also be discussed at the meeting at the Civic Centre, today at 2pm. Many residents are unhappy with the plans and 40 people attended a meeting on Monday evening where they were urged to attend today’s meeting to protest against the developement.
Those opposed to the plans have create a website at protect- bishamp ton.info
