THE May meeting was our resolutions meeting, when members discuss and vote on the resolution to be proposed at the National Federation conference to be held at Cardiff in June. June Lloyd therefore presented the NFWI resolution calling for more support for our failing High Streets.

After some discussion, most members felt that the resolution was unclear as to just what was being asked of WI members, and what if anything we could do about the situation, pertinent though it is to Evesham There was therefore a majority vote in favour of asking the area delegate who would be from Badsey to use her discretionary vote after hearing the speakers at the AGM.

Margaret Potter then gave a brief account of her recent stay at Denman College where she attended a threeday bread making course.

During supper vicepresident Frances Stretton, who led the meeting in the absence of president Val Davies, conducted a lighthearted auction of goods brought in by members.

Happily, due to the generosity of those assembled, this raised £111.40 and the money will go towards the purchase of new WI crockery.

The evening continued with a brief talk by Janice Laverick on her work giving specialist support to dementia patients and their carers.

A very full evening concluded with June Lloyd leading congratulations to the Littletons WI quiz team, who had triumphed over arch rivals Pebworth WI to win the group quiz. The matter had not been raised by Frances, as she was a member of the winning team and far too shy to say they had returned with the Bell Trophy.

Next meeting – June 11, 7.30pm Littletons Village Hall. The speaker will be Lt Col Lesinski on Trooping the Colour. Competition – Royal Memorabilia.
