AN archivist at Sudeley Castle is set to reveal all about her life meeting Hollywood stars, for the first time.

Jean Bray, who worked with actress Marilyn Monroe in the 1950s, is giving a talk in Winchcombe about her time working with some of tinseltown’s biggest names.

The 82-year-old, who is giving a talk on Saturday, May 25, at 6pm at The White Hart, High Street, became the actress’s publicist following a chance meeting in a pub in 1956.

She worked with the star when she came to London for the ill-fated film The Prince and the Showgirl.

Monroe hoped the film would make her a serious actress and her co-star Laurence Olivier hoped his cinema career would benefit from being on-screen with Monroe.

Mrs Bray said: “Marilyn was never a diva. She was very fragile. She wanted to be a serious actress.

“She was trying her best to portray the character as she thought it should be. She fluffed her lines a lot and was often late on set. Olivier could be very cruel.”

The Some Like It Hot actress was one of several stars Mrs Bray worked with. She also has stories about waking Shirley Bassey up for photo calls and receiving 4am calls from Errol Flynn.
