FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a blaze that broke out at a recycling plant near Mickleton last night.
Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service was called to the fire at Sims Metal Management in Long Marston Road at 5.40pm on Wednesday evening and sent pumps from Pebworth, Broadway and two from Evesham plus a water carrier from Evesham.
Crews used two hose reels and two covering jets to bring a deep-seated fire involving recycled waste under control, and the incident was scaled down at 8am this morning to a water carrier.
Two fire crews continued to work alongside on-site personnel with heavy plant machinery to dig and damp down.
Fire crews were expected to leave the site this afternoon.
