Special family events for Holy Week

Meet donkey and snail at Gloucester Cathedral Meet donkey and snail at Gloucester Cathedral

‘Gentle the Donkey’ and ‘Sir Low the Snail’ are set to blaze a trail at Gloucester Cathedral

A fun fundraising event for all the family will take place on Saturday, March 23, between 10.00am and 3.00pm when ‘Sir Low the Snail’ will need visitors' help to complete a Silver Snail Trail around the Cathedral Cloister.

People are invited to lay silver coins around the Cloister for Sir Low to crawl along, then, see how long it takes him to finish his journey.

There will also be craft activities available for the children and a taste of spring will be in the air with a plant sale, stalls and tombola in the Cloister Garth (if it’s rainy, or snowy it will be in the Cloister!).

On Sunday, March 24, at 10.15am at St Mary de Lode Church visitors can join ‘Gentle the Donkey’ in a procession to the Cathedral for the Palm Sunday Eucharist where people can experience the blessing of the palms and the singing of the passion.
