IT was second time lucky for Avril Smith-Maxwell who won the Moreton Town Council election last week.

Mrs Smith-Maxwell, who lives in the High Street, was elected on Thursday with 271 votes while Thomas Lewis narrowly missed out with 231 votes and Daniel Warmington came third with 62 votes.

The former Cotswold district councillor for Fosseridge missed out to Coun Terence Todd, who filled a space a few months ago when a position become available.

Mrs Smith-Maxwell, who has lived in the town for 27 years, said increasing parking in Moreton was one of her top priorities.

We’ve gotto find some more parking in the middle of Moreton,” she said.

The election was held following the resignation of JosieLane-Burford last year.
