MORETON’S pop-up shop success is continuing, with more businesses set to move in.
The pop-up shop scheme in Old Market Way allows small local businesses to sell their goods at a town centre location without all the overheads and requirement to purchase a permanent premises.
It is part of the national enterprise campaign StartUp Britain, which ran a series of pop-up shops in London last year.
Moreton is the first location outside the capital to host the initiative.
In return for a fee of £100 to include rent, insurance and wi-fi access, each company will be given a retail space for two weeks that will raise the profile of their products and provide customer service experience.
Flip Antiques, Vintage Decor and Florence & Belle, moved into the shop on Friday and will stay until Thursday, February 28.
Moreton-based Flip Antiques is an online business which trades in decorative vintage and antique objects, as well as furniture and is run by Ali Coggins.
Vintage Decor is owned by Jerry Freeman, who worked in London in the antiques trade for many years and is now based in Hook Norton. He is selling framed prints dating back to about 1930.
Florence & Belle is owned by Evesham’s Nikki Moulton, who is showcasing her original paintings, cards, bags and jewellery.
The latest business to commit to opening up at the pop-up shop is Bears from Spares, run by Sally Scotford, which will move in on Friday, March 15.
Her variety of teddy bears, which are made from children’s clothing, fabric or a jumble of spare materials, will be available to buy and order.
Sally said the inspiration for her new business came from her own children, aged three and six.
She said: “Their baby clothes were just in the loft, so I decided to turn them into bears. People saw them and wanted to order one too and it just took off.”
