THERE was cause for celebration at Longborough Primary School after a successful Ofsted inspection.
The school was marked as being good in the large majority of areas, with behaviour and pupil safety rated outstanding.
Inspector John Eadie said: “Pupils’ achievement is good. This is a significant improvement since the last inspection when it was satisfactory.”
He also said the pupils are “caring and considerate and extremely polite and welcoming” and that “leadership and management are good”.
However, to be an outstanding school, pupils’ achievement in reading and writing needs to improve.
Headteacher Clare Fisher said: “We’re thrilled to have this kind of external recognition.
We are very well supported by our parents and our local community.”
Meanwhile, the school recently found it had some unusual neighbours living next door. A £50,000 project to build a new reception area and offices had to be put on hold for six months after rare lesser horseshoe bats were found and a ‘bat flap’ was installed.
