FAMILIES will be able to scatter the remains of their loved ones at a new woodland burial ground near Upton Snodsbury after plans for the site got the go-ahead from planners.
The site at Allotment Gardens, Cowsden, near Upton Snodsbury, is currently used as farmland but Wychavon District Council members approved the application by A R Lane (Cowsden) Ltd to change it to a woodland burial ground for cremated remains.
The plans also include a car park, tracks and amendments to the existing access.
Councillor David Brotheridge, who works in the funeral business, said: “People opt for cremation and cemeteries fill up; we should support this.”
The application was approved with 12 councillors in favour and one abstention.
