Iron Age talk
11:00am Monday 18th February 2013 in News
EVESHAM’S historical society heard all about the Iron Age compound discovered in Bengeworth at its latest meeting.
The settlement, which was discovered in 2010 on the site where the new Bengeworth Primary School now sits, was discussed at the meeting by Tom Rogers of Worcestershire County Council archaeology department.
Talking to the Vale of Evesham Historical Society at the Almonry Heritage Centre, he gave an insight into what was uncovered, including drawings of the type of thatched dwellings Iron Age people would have lived in.
The society is looking for a new venue for its monthly meetings from September and new members. For more details, contact Rachel Knowles on 01386 761522 or rj.knowles@hotmail.com.
The next historical society talk will be at the Almonry on Thursday, February 28, at 7.30pm and will look at newspapers from the 1700s to the early 1900s.
