A SEX offender was alleged to have failed to tell authorities that he was staying at houses in Evesham and Redditch with under-18s.

Stephen Lagden, of Rainham Road, Essex, made no indication of plea when he appeared before Worcester magistrates charged with three counts of failing to comply with the sex offenders register.

Kerry Lovegrove, prosecuting, told the court the 49-year-old had failed to notify a change of address after renting a house in Evesham between October 31, 2011 and November 15, 2012.

The court also heard two allegations that Lagden had also failed to comply with the order’s requirements to inform the relevant authorities that he was residing in a house with a child under the age of 18.

Miss Lovegrove told the court those counts related to relationships Lagden was having with a woman in Evesham and a woman in Redditch, both of whom had children.

The case was committed to Worcester Crown Court on March 26.

He was released on conditional bail that he must not contact a number of prosecution witnesses and must not enter Worcestershire except for the night before his crown court trial.
