A GYM and dance spectacular inspired by the magical story of Peter Pan is taking place at the Cotswold School.

Students at the Bourton-based academy are performing the sell-out show, Flight to Neverland, tonight and tomorrow.

The audience will be treated to a fusion of gymnastics and dance inspired by J M Barrie’s children’s classic.

More than 150 are taking part in a variety of colourful, energetic roles.

Emma Tattersall, show director and physical education teacher, said: “To produce a gym and dance spectacular of this scale - with so many involved - takes an enormous team effort from all The Cotswold School's departments as well as our wider community.

“We are so grateful to our sponsors and supporters and are delighted to be sending proceeds from this Gym and Dance Show to benefit Great Ormond Street Hospital.”

Headteacher Will Morgan said the amount of work and dedication shown by everyone involved was “nothing short of awe-inspiring.”

“While these events take an enormous amount of work and time over and above an already busy school day, our fantastic teachers recognise that the extra effort is worth it for the students,” he said.

“These events are a vital ingredient in making school an enriching, lively experience and - along with the trips and all the extra-curricular activities - our students are given wonderful, lasting memories of their days at The Cotswold School.”
