A COTSWOLD couple who fell in love at the flicks have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
Bob Ratcliffe, aged 70, and his wife Kath, 66, of Roman Way, Bourton-onthe- Water, met through a mutual friend when they were teenagers.
After numerous trips to the cinema together they married at Stow registry office and moved into their first house in Station Road. Soon after they married they had Ian, the first of their three children, who was followed by daughters Hazel and Sally-Anne.
“We hit it off and we’ve been together ever since.
We used to go to the pictures in the car. We went to the ABC in Cheltenham and we went on from there,” said Mr Ratcliffe.
When the couple met, Mrs Ratcliffe was working in the needle industry in Studley while her husband was an electrician.
During their marriage, Mr Ratcliffe worked at RAF Little Rissington as well as Paragon Laundry and the Fire Service College, both in Moreton.
His wife worked at various cafés in Bourton before settling at the Coop where she remained for 20 years before retirement.
The couple, who are kept busy by their 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, enjoy taking their vintage tractor to steam rallies.
