UPDATE: Cotswold waste collections cancelled this week
3:00pm Tuesday 22nd January 2013 in News By Freya Leng
DUE to the icy weather, Cotswold waste collections have been cancelled this week.
While most main roads are now clear, many side roads, paths and pavements in the Cotswolds remain hazardous following last week’s heavy snowfall on Friday.
Continuing sub-zero temperatures have resulted in compacted ice remaining on many surfaces.
Cotswold District Council's waste contractor, Ubico Ltd, regret that they have had to cancel all collections this week.
All residents who were missed this week will receive a ‘double collection’ a fortnight later on their next scheduled collection date.
Residents can take recyclable waste - such as tins, glass and newspapers - to banks around the district if they do not want to wait for their next kerbside collections.
Councillor David Fowles, CDC Cabinet Member for the Environment, said: "We are aiming to get back on track with the double collections and trust that residents will understand our concerns about safety during this exceptionally icy weather.
"I must also point out that people can also use the Household Recycling Centre at Fosse Cross and our recycling banks across the district if they want to offload their waste and recycling earlier than the double collection dates.”
Any queries regarding CDC collections should be directed to the waste hotline on 01285 623 123.
