A DISUSED building near Chipping Campden was partly destroyed in a suspected arson attack.

Crews were called to the A44, Fish Hill, at 3.11pm on Friday to the blaze which completely destroyed the first floor and half of the ground floor.

Initially one fire appliance from Chipping Campden community fire station and one from Moreton were sent to the address but more assitance was needed from Evesham and Broadway.

Watch Commander Alastair Wheatcroft requested the attendance of the water carrier and aerial vehicle from Cheltenham East community fire station.

Firefighters spent nearly four hours battling to control the blaze using three jets of water, two hose reels and two breathing apparatus.

Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service confirmed the fire in the two-storey building was suspected arson, but it was not being investigated further.
