COTSWOLD residents can celebrate Penguin Awareness Day this weekend with a visit to a popular attraction in Bourton.
Penguin fans can put their knowledge to the test tomorrow with a quiz and enjoy special talks about the ‘waddle of penguins’ at Birdland which includes the only King Penguins on display in the England and also a comical gang of Humboldts.
Feeding displays take place every day at 2.30pm and there will be a chance to win an opportunity to step inside Penguin Shore and help the head-keeper feed the residents.
Visitors can also meet Spike the King Penguin, who has over 1,500 facebook fans and is a regular tweeter about his life in the Cotswolds and at Birdland.
He was hand-reared by Alistair Keen the Head Keeper and is one of the most popular residents.
Birdland, Rissington Road, Bourton, is open daily from 10am. For details call 01451 820480 or visit birdland.co.uk.
