Kiwis’ surprise school visit
2:00pm Saturday 12th January 2013 in News
CHILDREN at Swell School enjoyed a surprise visit from pupils from New Zealand who dropped in to see them during a visit to the Cotswolds.
Nine-year-old Archie and seven-year-old Mackenzie Taylor, who were staying with relatives in Bourton, came to see their friends at the school earlier this month.
The children have formed a twinning between Swell Primary School and St Marks Church School in Wellington, New Zealand, through the BBC World Class project.
BBC World Class helps UK schools to twin with schools around the globe as part of its educational legacy for the 2012 Olympics.
Archie and Mackenzie donated a copy of their favourite book, The Whale Rider, to the children at Swell as a lasting memory of their visit. The twinning was formed in March, 2012 and the children have been sending messages backwards and forwards ever since.
