A MAN who pleaded guilty to a sex crime on a 13-year-old girl was warned by a judge he was likely to get a “substantial” jail sentence.

Adam Pickering, aged 24, of Stratford Road, Honeybourne, near Evesham, admitted inciting a child to engage in sexual activity between June and July 2011.

Worcester Crown Court heard that messages posted on Facebook were a key part of the prosecution case.

Judge Abbas Mithani adjourned the hearing until January 18 and said a presentence report should consider whether the defendant was a danger to other children in the future.

Pickering was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register and have no contact with the victim.

Granting him bail, the judge said: “This is an extremely serious offence. Custody is inevitable and is likely to be a substantial period.”
