NORTH Cotswold Rotary Club’s annual charity band concert has been hailed the best ever by organisers.

More than 340 people braved a cold, wet evening to hear a rousing Christmas concert at the Cotswold School last month.

North Cotswold Rotary Club’s popular festive concert, performed by the Central Band of the Royal Air Force, kicked off the festive season in Bourtonon- the-Water.

The audience, who were joined by guest of honour Dame Janet Trotter, Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, enjoyed a varied programme of music conducted by the band’s director of music, Flight Lieutenant Richard Murray.

Bob Hadley, Rotary club president, said: “This was the best Christmas charity band concert here in Bourton I can remember.

“We were honoured and delighted to welcome the Central Band of the Royal Air Force, and not only have we enjoyed an outstanding evening’s entertainment, but we have also raised more than £4,000 for charity.”

Half of the proceeds will go to the band’s chosen charity, the RAF Benevolent Fund, with the other half being shared between the Sam Pilcher Trust, Kate’s Home Nursing and other local charities.
