A KIND hearted woman from a Vale village has wrapped thousands of shoeboxes with Christmas paper to boost a charity appeal.

Barbara Pearson, of Charlton, has been working hard for the Operation Christmas Child appeals in Evesham, Pershore and even Birmingham.

She said: “I have completed and picked up or taken to churches more than 6,200 boxes so far.

“If anyone from churches, schools or villages would like any last-minute shoeboxes with Christmas paper already on them I can supply one-offs or up to hundreds. I can also deliver in the Evesham and Pershore area.”

She is also accepting any goods suitable to fill the boxes. For more information, call 01386 861022.

Meanwhile, pupils at Bowbrook House School in Peopleton have also been busy donating. The students and their parents have filled more than 150 shoeboxes with gifts and essential items for less fortunate children as part of the annual appeal.

Headteacher Chris Allen said: “We received over 150 boxes full of fantastic gifts.

They will be greatly appreciated by the children who receive them on Christmas morning. Young people so often get a negative press yet here we have well over half the school contributing gifts to those less fortunate than themselves.”

Shoeboxes can also be dropped off at the warehouse next to Jewsons on St Richard’s Road, Evesham.

The headquarters is open from 10am to 4pm and from 6.30pm to 9.30pm from Monday to Friday and from 10am to 2pm on Saturdays.
