MPs including Peter Luff took part in a campaign to encourage people to get their winter flu jabs.

The Mid-Worcestershire MP attended Westminster Flu Day to get his jab – and is calling for residents to go along to their surgeries and follow suit.

He said: “The seasonal flu vaccination is important to help protect those people who are more susceptible to serious complications or even death from flu.

“We’re not doing badly in the county compared to national averages, but we could do much better.

“I urge all those that are over the age of 65 or are in one of the ‘at risk’ groups to visit their surgeries and get vaccinated.”

Last year 75 per cent of pensioners and 54 per cent of residents in the ‘at risk’ groups in Worcestershire got the jab.

Those figures are one per cent and three per cent higher than the corresponding national averages.
