New Cotswold recycling service hit with residents
3:56pm Friday 2nd November 2012 in News By Freya Leng
A NEW recycling service in the Cotswolds has proved a hit with residents.
Cotswold District Council’s new waste service company, Ubico Ltd has reported the introduction of fortnightly kerbside rigid mixed plastics collections across the entire district has been very popular with the community.
The new service was introduced across north collection zones in the district October 8 and was extended to include the south collection zones on October 29.
CDC Cabinet Member for the Environment, Councillor David Fowles, said: “The take-up has been extremely encouraging so far and we are very grateful to residents who have cooperated very well to ensure a relatively smooth introduction of the new service.
“In fact, the response to this new service was so enthusiastic on Friday (2) that the Ubico crews took a good deal longer to complete all of the recycling collections on that day due to the impressive amounts of plastic being recycled by residents.
“Now that Ubico have collected recyclable plastics across the whole district it is expected that collections will continue as normal in the future.”
