A CHARITY event held in memory of two young men who died within months of each other has raised £7,000.

Former Cotswold School pupils Adam Beston and Rupert Greenhill were barely in their thirties when their lives were cut short by terminal illness.

Rupert, a former city trader was aged 30 when he died in July last year from a rare form of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, while talented Stow rugby player, Adam, died in March after a long battle with a brain tumour.

Friends set up the charity Time of Your Life in memory of the popular pair and more than 150 people attended the inaugural event at the Cotswold School on Saturday.

Hayley Maull, who organised the event with Gina Disney and Tom Arkell, said they were “overwhelmed” with the support they had received from the community.

“It went really well,” she said. “We will definitely be doing something every year.

We’re really overwhelmed with the support from everybody.

It was all about remembering Adam and Rupert and bringing the community together.”

During the free event in the afternoon, members if the Beston and Greenhill families had stalls while the ticketed evening entertainment saw performances from Pippa Langhorne, a Britain’s Got Talent finalist and David Julien, finalist on The Voice.
