ANGLERS will be able to cast a line at all hours of the day and night at a Vale lake.

Wychavon planners have backed proposals by Evesham Vale Carp Fishery to allow its lake at Broad Lane, Bishampton, to be used for fishing at night. They also gave the go-ahead for an amenity block and six timber cabins, despite concerns being raised that they may be used as holiday lets.

Local councillor Liz Tucker said: “There are concerns if there is the overnight presence there that the residents could be surrounded by overnight activity. The residents have fears this could lead to holiday type development.”

The planning officer reassured councillors that the cabins would only be used to provide shelter to those people fishing overnight.

Proposing approval, Coun Richard Lasota said: “The three biggest sports in the Vale are football, golf and fishing. It brings in tourism. People night fish. I know there are people living on the lake but when you live on a lake you have to expect fishing.”
