CUTS to school funding across Worcestershire have been approved – with the worst-hit facing reductions of up to eight per cent.
The county council has agreed to adopt a new Government formula for the 2013/14 year which means drastic reductions for mainly rural schools.
Dr Tony Evans, headteacher of Prince Henry’s High School, said: “The Evesham area will be affected but obviously there’s a funding guarentee and capping so we won’t be too badly affected for the next couple of years. Our concerns are with Worcestershire being poorly funded, if the proposals were to come to fruit, it would have a knock-on effect that would be quite detrimental, particularly in Evesham.”
Peter Humphries, executive headteacher of Pebworth First and Blackminster Middle Schools Federation, said: “These are only proposals at this stage.
“The governing body will make every effort to make savings where possible and to direct the budget where it is most needed.”
