EVESHAM Swimming Club rounded off their involvement in round three of the Nuneaton League with one of their best performances of the season.

In making their way to Wom-bourne, they took an excellent fourth place which will have cemented their mid-table position in the league table.

Club captains for the evening, Liam Tustin and Lucy Anderson, were great ambassadors for the club and both achieved second places in the 50 metres freestyle events.

The latter then went on to gain two further second places in the relay events when accompanied by Paige Jeffries, Loren Brodie, Jessica Blount and Megan Betteridge.

The 11-year-old squad worked tirelessly and notable perform-ances were achieved by Matthew Newman and Ross Schaathun in breaststroke and backstroke respectively.

Thomas MacDonald and Nich-olas Leahy both secured maxi-mum points in winning indivi-dual events in the 10-year age group.

They were joined by Sam Gisbourne and Ben Harris for the medley relay where they secured a great second place.

The girls were not to be outdone and notable swims from Chloe Golding and Lauren Martyr secured first and second place respectively.

The youngest squad were the nine-year age group and once again they showed great strength and skill in performing in this exciting arena.

The boys showed great team-work in securing third place in the freestyle relay and the squad consisting of Tomas Leonard, Daniel Boyd, William Farrell and Charlie Waites can go on to achieve great things in the future.

Just as impressive was the nine-year girls squad and together they continued their great run in securing a massive points total.

The swim of the night was their efforts in the medley relay when the team of Melissa Humphrey, Caitlin Sharpe, Matilda Stratemier and Abigail Hump-hries secured a fantastic first place.

The season tomorrow with the club's annual Summer Cham-pionships. With several club records already achieved in the qualifying stages, everything seems well in place for a fantastic night of competition at Evesham Leisure Centre to be followed later in the month by the presen-tations and 30th birthday bash.
