Evesham Jubilee Society
THE society celebrates 110 years on Saturday when members will meet at the Jubilee Fishery for the Centenary Trophy match.
A high turnout is anticipated for the match which is open to all members. The draw is at 9am with fishing for five hours from 10.
The trophy will be presented to the winner at the presentation evening and 60s disco next Friday evening (May 16) when the season's cup and trophy winners will receive their prizes.
The maintenance day was well attended last Saturday morning and all pegs are now repaired and the fishery was generally cleaned up.
The Fishery Spring League continued the next day when Richard Chatwin (33.6.0) on Phil's Pool peg 3 just edged out Martin Smith (33.1.0) into second place.
Doug Smith (24.12.0) and Tim Hunt (23.8.0) claimed third and fourth places respectively.
Latest standings: 1 T Hunt 5pts; 2 Phil Seedhouse 5; 3 Brian Bennett 7.
Evesham and District Disabled AC
FOURTEEN members met on the bankside for another round of the Fiesta Cakes Spring League.
The eventual winner was Antony Icke with 40-0-0, ahead of Ron Williams (27-2-0) and Bill Scarrott (25-8-0).
Other weights: Scott Davis 25-0-0; Clive Leeming 20-0-0; Bob Southall 19-0-0; Russell Davis 18-0-0; Jerry Ackerman 15-12-0; Gavin Griffiths 13-2-0; Ray Woods 10-12-0; Cyril Thompson 10-4-0; Tony Herons 6.4.0; Tony Griffiths 6-4-0.
Pete Willis didn't weigh in, while Griffiths' catch included the heaviest fish - a carp of 7-10-0,
This Sunday's match is at Tirley Court, draw at 8am, fishing for five hours from 9.
Next Thursday, May 15, sees the start of the Summer Evening League matches and the opener is at Jim's, draw 5pm, fishing between 6 and 9.
