Cate Blanchett was not impressed when an interviewer suggested she looked like the kind of Aussie girl who would like to crack open a beer with him.

Australia’s Channel Ten reporter Jonathan Hyla, from The Project TV show, asked the 45-year-old actress a series of inane questions finishing off with how she managed to get her character’s cat to follow her around on a leash in new movie Cinderella.

Cate, 45, was visibly annoyed and asked: “That’s your question!? That’s your f***ing question?!” She looked in exasperation at the people sitting out of shot behind her, who can be heard laughing.

She then cut the interview short, telling Hyla, “Nice to meet you”.

The meeting began awkwardly with Hyla comparing it to speed dating.

He then said: “I was going to bring like a six pack of beer. You seem like the type of person that we should just crack open a beer and just have a chat.”

Cate politely played along, replying: “This date is not going well, I do not drink beer.”

Hyla asked what he could have brought to the interview to break the ice, to which Cate revealed she likes a potato vodka made in Devon.

She then said to Hyla, “Let’s start over”, and reminded him “One of us has got to do our job,” as she tried to get the conversation back onto the subject of the film.

Cate showed a sense of humour throughout the interview, and even gave Hyla a high five on the way out. But his cat question seemed to be a step too far.
