It was a bad night for Cheryl Fernandez-Versini on the X Factor as she lost two of her acts on tonight's live elimination show.

Jazz singer Chloe Jasmine was beaten in the sing-off by eight-strong boyband Stereo Kicks, while 20-year-old Stephanie Nala was shown the door after receiving the fewest votes from the public.

Jasmine, 24, failed to impress the judges with her rendition of Will You Still Love Me by The Shirelles but the blonde-haired singer had a cheeky ploy to try to stay on the ITV series.

After Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Mel B voted for her to leave the show, Jasmine said: "I was going to just ask - can I be the ninth member of Stereo Kicks?"

She also praised girls' mentor Fernandez-Versini for "taking a chance" and putting her on the live shows.

"You're an amazing, formidable woman," Jasmine said.

Fernandez-Versini told presenter Dermot O'Leary: "I'm absolutely gutted that we've lost her. I think we've lost an amazing character."

One member of Stereo Kicks was in tears as they waited to hear their fate after performing I'll Stand By You by The Pretenders.

After receiving the fewest votes from the public, Nala, who first found fame singing with The Luminites on Britain's Got Talent, said: "Honestly I just feel so grateful to get here. I've had an amazing opportunity. I've grown as a person. I've lost my voice and I've had so much fun."

Fernandez-Versini said: "She's very distinctive so she was always going to be not everyone's cup of tea.

"I knew it was a gamble and it was a gamble I was more than happy to take, and I'd take it again."

The star guests to perform on this week's show were Jessie J and Maroon 5.
