An exotic twist

A TOUCH of the exotic is being promised for this year’s Badsey Flower Show.

The village show that attracts thousands of visitors each year has a new twist for 2009. The Miramar Belly Dancing troupe, pictured above, are all set to strut their stuff in the main arena.

The show takes place on Saturday, July 25, on the recreation ground at Sands Lane in Badsey.

Flower show committee member Adrian Barradell said: “Badsey Flower Show is a very popular event with a mix of entertainments, side-shows, stalls and craft and produce exhibits.

This year the belly dancers will bring an exotic twist to our traditional village flower show and I am sure people will find it really interesting and entertaining.”

Val Rainbow from the Miramar Belly Dancers said: “Belly dancing is fast becoming a very popular way to keep fit. It is suitable for ladies of all ages, shapes and sizes as well as being a lot of fun.

“We all love performing and are really looking forward to shimmying our stuff at the Badsey show.”

Other attractions include a professional dog display team, a fun dog show, fairground rides, a brass band, a rifle shooting range and much more.

The gates open at 1pm and the event runs all afternoon. Entry is £3 or £1 for seniors and children, with free parking.

People are also invited to become volunteer helpers. Call Lizzie Noyes on 01386 831112 with offers of help.
