WARWICK Castle will help a fairytale become a reality as girls are given the chance to become a princess for the day.
In preparation for its opening, dozens of hopefuls descended on the castle to audition for a part in The Princess Tower – the venue’s new summer attraction.
Forget peas under mattresses, in true talent show style the royal wannabes were put through their paces in front of a panel of judges including Warwick Castle’s resident knight in shining armour, the fool and the dungeon judge.
Sue Kemp, general manager, said: “I don’t think we’ve ever had so many auditionees for such a small number of roles.
“The idea of being paid to spend the day swanning around a castle trying on fabulous dresses and impersonating a medieval princess clearly struck a chord with the female population!”
The Princess Tower will be open from Wednesday, July 8.
It will feature everything from enchanted mirrors and talking paintings to a book of magic wishes, and promises to immerse visitors in a magical experience centering on the beautiful Princess Arabella’s forthcoming wedding, presumably to Prince Charming.
The centrepiece of the attraction is the royal fitting room, where little princesses will be invited to try on all manner of royal finery.
